The Process Pilot® automated blowmolder control system is a combination of software and hardware interface components that work in conjunction with the Pilot Profilermeasurement system to provide a hands-free means to maintain the blowmolding process.  The Process Pilot control system utilizes feedback from the Pilot Profiler system to continually monitor material distribution and automatically adjust blowmolder settings to maintain optimal bottle distribution characteristics, without operator intervention. The Process Pilot system eliminates time-consuming manual steps in the blowmolding management process, resulting in reduced process variability and improved bottle performance and quality.

Pilot Profiler™ Material Distribution Management System






 

The Pilot Profiler in-the-blowmolder material distribution measurement system offers real-time measurement feedback for PET containers, at the point of production, on every container produced.  This system provides the high accuracy material distribution data that is essential for the light weighting, quality management and process control functions in today’s high speed blowmolding operations.  It is compatible with all major brands of rotary blowmolders.

The Pilot Profiler system features a compact non-contact measurement unit that is positioned within the blowmolder to measure bottles as they exit the mold. This system can be fitted with up to 32 sensors to produce a comprehensive thickness profile over the entire sidewall of a container.

Pilot Vision™ System






 

The Pilot Vision™ system is a modular vision-based inspection system that mounts inside the blowmolder to provide detection of random occurring defects during the production of PET bottles. This system offers manufacturers a means to critically evaluate preforms and blown bottles for defects that may compromise the quality of the finished product.

Pilot Vision is available as a stand-alone system, or as part of Agr’s Process Pilot® automated blowmolder management system.

Pilot Vision can identify a wide range of commonly occurring defects:

  • On bottle finish seal -- nicks, dents and scratches in seal surface, surface irregularities, seal surface integrity, inner/outer diameter, ovality, blown finish, choked neck, short shots . . .
  • On bottle sidewall -- neck folds, clarity and consistency, crystalinity, contamination, dark spots, holes, under-blown containers . . .
  • On Bottle Base – holes, opaque spots, foreign particles, un-melted material, under-blown and improperly formed feet, folds, off-center gate, gate size, gate ovality/tears, gate holes . . . .

The OptiCheck Finish/Seal module provides the ability to monitor the quality and dimensional accuracy of the finish and seal surface regions of rigid plastic containers. Designed for use in tabletop conveyor applications, the OptiCheck Finish/Seal system provides critical finish dimensional gauging of every container on the production line, with a level of accuracy traditionally found only in the laboratory.Opticheck

OptiCheck™ Sidewall/Label System






 

The OptiCheck™ vision-based inspection and process monitoring system incorporates a modular, expandable approach to bottle quality management.

The OptiCheck Sidewall/Label System provides the inspection requirements to effectively monitor and manage sidewall and label defects that commonly occur in the bottle production process. The unique optical arrangement, as well as multiple high-resolution cameras, in conjunction with long-lasting LED lighting, makes 360 degree inspection coverage possible on bottles that are translucent or opaque. The OptiCheck Sidewall/Label is compatible with bottles of a variety of shapes, styles, colors and materials.
